ARCO Madrid ’25

By marzo 7, 2025Art

Yesterday, I visited ARCO for the first time since 2020. My fanzine «Metal is in the details» is part of the collective by the Escuela de Arte de Oviedo (EAO) «42 líneas» shown in the ArtsLibris area dedicated to editorial projects.

(Pic stolen from @42_lineas_editorial instagram because I completely forgot to take photos.)

I wandered for almost 5 hours through the stands and I found so many interesting pieces (among others that to me were meh…) so I took some pictures to make a proper research at home. Here are my findings:

Mariajosé Gallardo is an artist from Badajoz who lives in Sevilla. I will follow her work, for sure. It gives me some Mark Ryden vibes but with a very personal style. LOVED this triptych.

Also, I am very disappointed with myself because I found out there was a solo exhibition about her work very close to my place so I will definitely stay alert just in case.

Chiffon Thomas form Chicago, very sci-fi influenced.

aBiGaiL wiRtH from Budapest.

«The theoretical and emotional background of Abigail Wirth’s (1991, Budapest) work is the everyday experience of neurodivergent existence, with a focus on the possibilities and limitations of self-awareness and self-identity.»

Karina Mendreczky & Katalin Kortmann Járay

Both from Hungary and part of Ani Molnár Gallery as aBiGaiL wiRtH. I feel this people and me have the same taste in sense of weird carefully made art so I will follow this gallery very close.

I only have two detail pics from the art by Nikki Maloof but her work has a very personal style in a horror vacui full color way, so this is certainly my shit.
